Sugar Foot Stomp July 4-6 2008

The experiences at this event were phenomenal. The Southeast has this energy that I just can’t get enough of. Everyone was friendly and excited to be there as much as I. Michael and Jaya did a fabulous job organizing this event and making sure everything ran smoothly. The Music was great to dance to and I appreciated the variety the DJ’s had in their sets.
Classes:
Joel and Alison, were the instructors this year. AMAZING. Their instructions were easy to absorb and they were hilarious. I am very grateful for teachers who themselves learn these vintage dances and put an effort to teach others. I think it is important to know the history of the dance you love. Now having the background where some these styles came about, it inspires me to use some of these styles in my dancing.

Dances:
The atmosphere of the dances were fun! I would liked to have more Shag but all and all I had a great time dancing with everyone, and watching others having a good time on the floor I competed in my first solo Charleston this weekend. People also competing were Joanna, Gina, Breanna, Hurley, Carl, Austin, and Robert. Everyone had so much energy! I had a blast just being with these people. I thought the Peabody Snowball Jam was perfect for everyone to partake and enjoy. The Soul Train Shag/Texas Tommy was a good way to get everyone to try out what they had learned that weekend.

Friends:
These people are what make dance events so memorable. I feel very blessed knowing so many good (cool) people. :) I consider all of you close friends even if we don’t live in the same state. Everyone one of you are genuine and unique and I am happy to know you! On a special note, I am enjoying the fact that I have more than 2 girls as great friends. Always had problems with girls being mean to me so yeah for nice ones!!!! :)

Good to see everyone and thank you to those who gave me some dancing advice. I feel much better now about my dancing.
